<< Contemporary Japanese Prints
Contemporary Japanese printmaking is
characterized by a coexistence of the old traditional
woodblock technique and modern western methods like etching
or lithographs. Japanese print artists gained
wide recognition and are frequently found among the
prize winners of international art exhibitions.
Some of the Japanese artists live permanently in the USA
like Masami Teraoka or teach printmaking for a few years
at a US university like Yuji Hiratsuka.
And while Japanese artists live abroad, quite a number
of foreign artists chose to settle permanently in Japan
like Clifton Karhu or David Stones.
